Miracle of Hot Water
His Holiness is the limitless, sublime
ocean of mercy. He is the personification of Lord Shiva, the bestower of boons
in this Kali Yuga. He watches over His devotees with the tenderness of a mother
and protects them. This episode is a drop of nectar drawn from that vast ocean
just to sample the rarity and greatness of His Holiness's benevolence.
Last year I had been to Sringeri
during Chaturmasya and had stayed in a room at 'Shankara Krupa' next to the
room of Smt. Ananthalakshmi Ammal. The day was the 13th of August, a Dwadasi
day. Rain lashed relentlessly since morning. I wanted to offer Biksha vandhanam
to His Holiness but was unable to cross river Tunga due to torrential downpour.
The next day, I wanted to leave early to achieve the darshan of His Holiness.
It was still raining and the spate in Tunga was rising. At 6 am I brought two
buckets out and asked the watchman for hot water. He replied that there was a
major power outage and that they were short of water. He added that only when
the power.
supply was restored could the water
tank be filled and be made available to the residents. He also filled the
buckets with rain water for my use.
I felt dejected. I had already missed
the darshan of His Holiness the previous day and did not want to lose the
opportunity today. I contemplated taking bath in the river Tunga. Yet I sought
to try the bathroom tap one last time. Speaking to myself audibly, I asked
" O Guru! What am I to do today? In this unyielding rain should I bathe in
River Tunga?" As I turned the tap, I was speechless to see hot water
flowing rapidly from it. None of the other rooms in Shankara Kripa had even
cold water supply and my room did not have a water heater either. Yet piping hot water poured out of the tap.
I collected one and half buckets of
water. After I bathed I collected another bucket of water. I had also begun
heating the rain water on the stove. I offered both water to Sivakumar in the
adjoining room and asked him to perform his ablutions without waiting for power
supply. I tried opening the tap again and not a drop of water came from it.
That evening beset with gratitude, I
told my Guru of the divine sequence of events that happened in the morning.
With a benevolent smile He replied "When the river was in spate with no
sign of abatement from torrential rain, Acharyal cannot approve of your taking
bath in river Tunga. Therefore the tap provided hot water".
My heart ebbs and flows as I
contemplate the motherly kindness with which His Holiness provided hot water to
counter the bitter cold weather. I know nothing besides humbly reciting the
supreme mantra "Sri Guro Paahimaam".
The omnipotent Guru shields His weak
devotee from all tribulations. Should difficulty befall His devotees His
Holiness who is the cause and effect of everything wards them off and shields
His devotee with care.

04. వేడి
నీటి అద్భుతం
పరమ పూజ్యులైన ఆచార్యులు
వారి మనసు అపరిమితమైన, ఉత్కృష్టమైన
కరుణా సాగరం లాంటిది. ఈ కలియుగంలో వరాలను
అనుగ్రహించే పరమ శివుని స్వరూపం వారిది.
తల్లి వలే వాత్సల్యం తో లాలిస్తూ తమ భక్తులను రక్షిస్తారు వారు.
ఈ దృష్టాంతము పరమ పూజ్యులు యొక్క
అరుదైన గొప్పతనాన్ని, మహత్తును మచ్చుకకు ఒకటి చూపడానికి ఆ మహా సముద్రం నుండి తీయబడిన ఓ
అమృతపు బిందువు.
గత ఏడాది చాతుర్మాస్య
దీక్షా సమయంలో శృంగేరికి వెళ్లి, 'శంకర కృప'లో శ్రీమతి అనంతలక్ష్మి అమ్మాళ్ గారి గది పక్కనే నేను కూడా ఓ గదిలో బస చేశాను..
ఆ రోజు ఆగస్టు 13వ తేదీ, ద్వాదశి తిధి. ఉదయం నుంచి ఎడతెరిపి లేకుండా
వర్షం కురుస్తున్నది. నేను శ్రీ గురు చరణులకు
బిక్షావందనం సమర్పించాలనుకున్నాను కానీ కుండపోత వర్షం కారణంగా తుంగా నదిని
దాటలేకపోయాను. మరుసటి రోజు, ఆచార్యుల వారి
పవిత్ర దర్శన భాగ్యమును పొందడానికి
త్వరగా బయలుదేరాలని అనుకున్నాను. వర్షం కురుస్తూనే వున్నది, తుంగా ప్రవాహము అంతకంతకూ పెరుగుతూ వున్నది.
ఉదయం 6 గంటలకు నేను రెండు
బకెట్లు తెచ్చి, వాచ్‌మెన్‌ని
వేడి నీళ్ళు అడిగాను. పెద్దఎత్తున విద్యుత్తు అంతరాయం ఏర్పడిందని, దాని వలన నీటి కొరత ఉందని, కరెంటు ఉన్నప్పుడు మాత్రమే వేడి నీళ్ళు లభిస్తాయని అని ఆయన
బదులిచ్చారు. నీటి ట్యాంక్‌ను నింపేందుకు విద్యుత్తు సరఫరా పునరుద్ధరించబడాలి. నా
అవసర కోసం బకెట్లలో వాన నీటిని కూడా నింపి వుంచినాడు.
నాకు చాలా నిరుత్సాహం గా
అనిపించింది. నేను నిన్నటి రోజున శ్రీ
గురు చరణుల యొక్క దివ్య దర్శనాన్ని చూడలేకపోయాను మరియు ఈ రోజు ఆ అవకాశాన్ని
కోల్పోకూడదనుకున్నాను. తుంగా నదిలో పవిత్ర స్నానం ఆచరించాలని సంకల్పించినాను.
ఎన్నో ఎన్నో అనుకున్నాను, చివరకు
ఎంతో నిరాశతో చివరిసారిగా స్నానాల గదిలో
కుళాయిని త్రిప్పి మరో మారు ప్రయత్నించాలని అనుకున్నాను. "ఓ గురూ! ఈరోజు నేనేం చేయాలి? ఈ ఎడతెరిపిలేని వర్షంలో తుంగా నదిలో స్నానం ఎలా చేయాలి?"
అని అనుకుంటూ నేను కుళాయిని త్రిప్పినప్పుడు, దాని నుండి వేడి నీరు వేగంగా ప్రవహించడం చూసి నాకు మాటలు
రాలేదు. శంకర కృపలోని ఇతర గదుల్లో ఏ గదికి కూడా నీటి సరఫరా లేదు మరియు నా గదిలో
వాటర్ హీటర్ కూడా లేదు. కానీ కుళాయి లోంచి
వేడి నీళ్ళు వచ్చినాయి.
నేను ఒకటిన్నర బకెట్ల
నీటిని పట్టుకున్నాను. నేను స్నానం చేసిన తర్వాత మరో బకెట్ నీటిని పట్టి వుంచాను.
అయినా కూడా నేను మరలా పొయ్యి మీద వర్షపు నీటిని వేడి చేయడం ప్రారంభించినాను.
ప్రక్క గదిలో ఉన్న శివకుమార్‌ గారికి
రెండు బక్కెట్ల నీళ్ళు అందించి కరెంటు కోసం ఎదురు చూడకుండా స్నానాలు చేయమని
అడిగాను. నేను మళ్ళీ కుళాయి త్రిప్పి చూశాను కానీ దాని నుండి ఒక్క చుక్క నీరు
రాలేదు. ఏమిటో విచిత్రం.
ఆ రోజు సాయంత్రం కృతజ్ఞతా
భావంతో, ఉదయం జరిగిన దివ్య సంఘటనలను గురువుగారికి చెప్పాను.
"కుండపోత వర్షం
తగ్గుముఖం పట్టకుండా నది ఉధృతంగా ప్రవహిస్తున్నప్పుడు, మీరు తుంగా నదిలో స్నానం చేయడాన్ని ఆచార్యులు ఎలా
ఆమోదిస్తారు? అందువల్ల కుళాయి వేడి
నీటిని అందించింది" అని దయతో కూడిన చిరునవ్వుతో వారు జవాబిచ్చినారు.
తీవ్రమైన చలిని
ఎదుర్కోవడానికి వేడి నీటిని అందించిన పూజ్య గురు దేవుళ్ళ వాత్సల్యమును గురించి
ఆలోచిస్తున్నప్పుడు నా హృదయం ఉప్పొంగి పోయింది. కళ్ళల్లో నీరు తిరిగినాయి వారి
మాటలకు. "శ్రీ గురో పాహిమాం" అనే సర్వోన్నత మంత్రాన్ని వినయంగా పఠించడం
తప్ప నాకు ఏమి తెలుసు?
అన్నింటికీ మూల కారణంబైన, సర్వ
శక్తిమంతుడైన పూజ్య జగద్గురువులు, అత్యల్పుడైన తన
భక్తుడిని అన్ని ఆపదల నుంచి, కష్టాల నుంచి దూరంగా ఉంచి,
తన భక్తులను కంటికి రెప్పలా జాగ్రత్తగా కాపాడుతారు.
